Buenos Aires, March 25 (NA) — Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni found himself at the center of a controversy following his trip to Punta del Este and responded harshly to accusations about the financing of his stay. "You are not the judge, you are the journalist," he stated, defending his actions. The official insisted, according to information reported by the Argentine News Agency, that his economic decisions belong to the private sphere and that he will not give explanations on that matter. During a tense press conference, he defended his actions and left a phrase that quickly went viral: "With my money, I do what I want." The controversy arose after a journalist questioned him about supposed links between the trip and a company hired by Public TV, as well as mentioning a close associate of his, Marcelo Grandío, as the one who would have covered the expenses. In this sense, he emphasized that all the corresponding information will be presented on time and in due form in his sworn statement, whose deadline has not yet occurred. The episode adds a new chapter to the public discussions about the conduct of officials in the midst of the economic adjustment promoted by the Government, where the exposure of personal expenses often becomes a focus of political debate. "My money, be it a lot, little, more or less, I spend it on what seems best to me or to my family," he stated, while qualifying the insinuations about supposed irregularities as "in bad taste." Additionally, he questioned the journalist's approach and denied any type of irregularity in his asset declarations.
